Construction Knowledge (Masonry) Series: What is a Masonry Veneer Corner?
Masonry Veneers are used on buildings that are NOT constructed of masonry but want the appearance of masonry. For instance, a brick building will be constructed of wood or metal framing and then brick veneer is attached to the outside to make it look like the building is built out of bricks.
On buildings with stone or CMU veneer, you want it to look like it is built out of full depth CMU or stone. This becomes difficult at corners since the veneers are not full depth. This problem is solved with the use of corner units. Corner units “wrap” the corners to hide the fact that you are using thin pieces of veneer.
